Gigantea update and some interesting observations

Good evening

we'll this guy is doing extremly we'll. We are almost at the 2 week mark and it is much sticker than when i got it. It eats wonderfully and parts of it look like they are gaining back some zooenthelle no deflating unless expelling waste a day after it eats and it is firmly attached to the rock.

What is interesting is this anemone has 2 mouths:) One in the center of the oral disk and another smaller one just off center. I have attached pics. In the pirst pic you can visibly see it and in the other you can see the clown feeding it.
What do any of you make of this?
It also has some tentacles growing out of the back column as we'll.
Have attached a pic of that as we'll.

Otherwise all seems to be good.

Thanks for everyone help and opinions.

Beautiful anemone! The tentacles on the under side, may be from an old wound. I know that when Elegance corals get damaged, when they heal, they may grow tentacles around the area. Usually on the top of the oral disk though. Hopefully the second mouth is a sign that it will eventually split. If it does, I'm sure people will be lining up to take the extra one off your hands.

Something else i noted but forgot to mention was with all the reading i have done it states that the verracue is not sticky on gigantea's. We'll mine is. That is how he keeps his folds attached to the rock in the current.
Not sure what to make of that either.:)

Its not sticky

Its not sticky

Mine does this same thing with keeping folds attached, they do have the abiliy to actually grab an object using the underside.

Okay so one of my many questions solved:)
I figured they had to hold them down some how. But all the literature i could find says nope:)

Thanks

Funny Story

Funny Story

When i went to get my gigantea from the guys tank who had it i said let me get it out i know how to handle them.

He said no and low and behold he had a gigantea all the way around his arm. It looked like a taco shell around his arm.

I told him the base was not sticky and to try to force the anemone to lift up its out disc and pick up the rock quicky.

Its almost a month later and most of the tentacles that came off have regrown.

You def have a nice gigantea. Im about to pick up my second one with a blue foot. The first one was in captivty for a year this one is in a store.

Great Job! Dibs on the split.

I have actually began a search for my second one. Goose eggs so far.

We'll your first on my list should it happen:)
Although i think it is pretty slim to none as in all the reading i have done i have never once read of them splitting.

Kinda neat though...Guess he just wants to stand out in this gigantea crowd...lol

Does anybody else remember that thread awhile back about the guy who's carpet did indeed split? I can't remeber what kind of carpet and i know it took a long time but it was documented with pics?
I am having issues finding it.
