Gimmito's 450 L-Shaped Display

Haven't done the manifold yet but got all the part ready just for cutting and gluing (The boring parts LOL), I'm thinking of just three exits for reactors as the Fuge and Skimmer are hard plumbed in another line.

Once I do this I will let you know so you can see the results.

I'm having a major battle with Algae and Cyano, I'm considering removing the few corals I have and dropping in some Red Slime and Algae Fix, what would you recommend?

What are the phosphate levels ? Otherwise, water changes, phosphate removal media, & red slime removal media. Coral Rx is good for dipping LR and getting rid of hair algae.

We'll see who does their manifold first. ;)

Which pellets did you get? I'm about to buy the reactor for it but haven't decided yet on the media.

You're on!! LOL :D

Video of main display and circulation.

Great video, nice circulation!, have you found the culprit on the drains?

I have the Coralvue bio-sphere pellets. I bought them from Mike at Reef Specialty.

I'm about to buy the reactor for it but haven't decided yet on the media. ?

I thought you had the vertex u-140 reactor ?

Great video, nice circulation!

Not bad for Tunzes eh ? ;)

have you found the culprit on the drains?

I'm still trying to dial them in.

Jim,
I bought two additional UF-20's to house a total of 2,000 ML's of Vertex Pro Bio Pellets, it's seems that this media with this reactor go hand to hand as it's design for them, I think it's the inner 1/2" tube that makes the difference.

With these two I will have a total of three UF-20's connected to the Manifold. :D

Juan,

So, I take it you are running bio pellets, carbon , & (possibly) gfo ? Are you going half recommended BP amount then slowly ramp it up ?

Jim,
As of now just carbon, but with the new reactors both of them are going to run the Vertex Bio Pellets, the recommended amount for these would be from 50 - 200ML per 26.5 gallons, I going right now with only 90ML per 26.5 gallons which is around 2,000 ML's, also, I decided to go with two reactors as each can hold 1,500 ML's so I didn't want the pellets to run too tight.

Juan,

Good idea going with two reactors....those bio-pellets do need a lot of room.

I bought the rest of the plumbing supplies today to get the manifold going. I'll post pics and a vid of everything hooked up when i do.

OMG you're going to win LOL

I think I will have mine ready next week, even I would love looking at yours as I can take some ideas for mine :)

LOL...I'm off today so I have some time to work on the tank. I'll post some pics when I finish. I'm doing 3 outlets also. One to feed the skimmer, one for the bio pellet reactor, and one for BRS jumbo reactor that will run carbon.

I'll look for your pics.

I finished the manifold. I have three additional feeds via gate valves for a bio pellet reactor, skimmer, & carbon reactor.

Pic of manifold feed for the bio pellet reactor. I'm using Coralvue biosphere pellets. The recommended amount is 100-150 ml per 25 gal of water. I want to start out gradually and will use 800 ml. Also, I know it's recommended to place the output of the reactor near the intake of the skimmer. Since I have a recirculating skimmer, should I tie it in the feed line in the skimmer ? Any advice on bio pellet usage would be appreciated.

Thanks Juan. I rinsed the pellets in RO, but waiting to hear back from Mike at Reef Specialty where I should place the outlet of the reactor. Any thoughts ?

Very good question, I was thinking of placing mine in a high flow place so it can mix good before going back into the DT, but please share what Mike tells you so I can consider doing the same, thanks.

Juan,

I talked to Mike today and he mentioned placing the output line near the intake of the skimmer. Since I have a recirculating skimmer, I'll have to to get a tee to tie it in the feed into the skimmer.

I can pull the same almost easily, as the reactors will run near the Skimmer Intake line, just need to figure out to place a check valve on the reactor's exit and a Tee on the line to introduce the pellet's water.

Thanks for the info Jim.
