GIRS October Meeting

well im new to the hobby but I would love to learn more so im thinkin about comming. maybe you could all school me a bit about keeping corals. defonately excited about going may need directions to the amvets though.

I cant make it. The weather is closing in fast & we are still trying to get a roof on the house & windows & doors in.

I just realized the other day that this meeting is on the same weekend as opening deer season for muzzleloader. I am going to do my best to get my buck on Saturday morning and still make it to a wedding on Saturday night and then this meeting on Sunday. I will try to get the corals that are need to for the demo to someone if it doesn't look like I am going to make it.

"Craig, did you start building the new house?"

Ya we starting building in the middle of August near la porte city. Been working on it every night til dark (or til 9 like tonight), and every weekend. We got frustrated by the weather in Sept but are catching up now.

If anyone is intrested, we will be making another batch of DIY rock after the meeting. I live about 6 blocks away from the Anvets so if anyone wants to come and play they are more than welcome. I could grill up some dogs and burgers and we could enjoy a few bevereges as well. Sound like fun? It should be, Jason G and i made some last weekend, it turned out pretty good except it was flat on the bottom, this time we have a few different methods lined up so it should turn out great.

See ya then!!!

I got a few trricks for that. I just used the salt and portland recipe. You can keep some of the salt separate then after you have the rock mixed set the salt in lumpy piles then set the soft rock on top of it. When it dries no flat spots.

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it to the meeting. I was trying to keep Saturday free for the meeting, until I saw that it was Sunday. By that time I already had a brother-in-law stopping by :(

If you guys are interested I can post some pictures / steps that I took to make a single rock. And the recipes I used. This was the second one I made and it came out relatively successful.

Sadly, I'm not going to be able to make this meeting after all. T

The bad news is that the weather is going to be nice and I really need to help my father-in-law build his new shed... The good news is that in return, he's going to help me build my new stand and canopy...

Ah Trade-offs.... I was really looking forward to meeting all of you and to seeing the demo on fragging...

Oh well... How often are these meetings held?

unfortunately Melissa and I will not be able to attend the meeting either (this sucks). Looked all summer for firewood to cut with no success and now i have 3 weeks worth the cutting and splitting to do. Any volunteers??? lol

I'm out too I get to move 4 tons of landspacing stones for my mom. Yahoo. I'd rather be fragging.

I may be a little late but I will be there. I am going to bring an anemone and show everyone my "secret". I will also have a few other things to frag up and give away!

See everyone later.

Looks like we cant make it either....that 5 blocks is just to damn far to crawl.

;)

Dont think we are gonna make rocks today, if it was above 60 and sunny i would for sure but looks like it might be abit chilly to be playing the mud. Besides that im giving ALL my money to Bob for frags so i cant afford to buy salt. We will have to do it next spring when its nice and warm.

Sorry, would like to come, but I'm newly pregnant and the sights and smells of corals being sliced and diced makes me nauseated just thinking about it :(
