what can I do to get scratches off the inside glass of my tank. no I did not do 1st owner did,.

There are some professional tools that can be used to polish glass, I'm told, but I think basically you're out of luck. They might not show so much when the tank has water in it.

I haven't seen anything that can be used without draining the tank to at least the level of the scratch, so for more people you are out of luck.

thanks for the link, has anyone ever used the liquid they advertise on tv that will take straches off of eye glasses, do you think that would work

Hmm, I'd be suspicious about any chemical fix, since it might dissolve in saltwater. Do you know what's in the stuff?

I would be very cautious as well. I wound't try anything in a full tank anyway. Tooth paste will take out fine scratches sometimes, but again the tank has to be empty.

As someone who works in the glass industry, I can tell you there is a general rule about this... if you can stick your fingernail in the scratch then it cannot be removed.

I have had to deal with this on many jobs where the cleanup crew (not the snails) ended up scratching 1/2" glass on handrails and such, and no matter how much $$$ and equipment we threw at it, in the end the glass would have to be replaced.
