Glenn, Your tank and coral growth is mesmerizing year after year.

What can you share about your lighting and your canopy setup? The T5s look very close to the waters surface but that doesn't seem to be an issue for you. What is that reflective material? Aluminum? I know you are in Norway so the climate is probably on the cooler side but do you have any issues keeping the water temp in check with that hood being semi closed up?

I don't really have an oppinion of boron.
All i know from lectures is that i help with percipitation inside stony corals.
I do know since i level my boron an start controlling all essential parameters my sps coral growth and coloring took off.

So yeah ... i think adding boron must be beneficial.

Thanks for the info!
I apologize, I only just now noticed that you had listed the time schedule for light bulbs down at the bottom of that image.

Another question, when you started your method of reefkeeping icp testing was not really easily available, you did your own testing. Now, with large companies offering the service, do you periodically send in samples to get a general idea of your overall levels?

Thanks m8...
Yeah ....it seems my tanks don't encounter mayor problems i can't handle....
Imo it proves people wrong who stated this result can't be maintained for a long strech of time..
My worst enemy is growth......😁😁😁

Tubes are 3-4cm above the surface togeher with the DiY reflector is has great efficiency

The diy refectors are made of laminated aluminium kitchen foil.

I live in the port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands.

My closed hood is in fact a cooling tube.
I have fans blowing through the full lenght of the lamps .
So heat is efficiently transported out of the closed hood.

I never do icp testing...
Though triton offer to do a test for me in 2013. That was the one and only icp test i ever did on my reeftank.

Why?
Why should i?
Tank is flourishing all the time why wast money and effort to know about things that don't matters.....

I know it is not very sciencetific, but i don't like to spend my time chasing numbers. I rather let good resultd speak for itselves.

I definitely appreciate the pictures. I am in a perfect situation to do as you have done with my own hood and will be doing just that. Thanks for sharing!

The computer fans are controlled bij a computer fan regulator.
It's a very cost efficient way to keep the tank cool.
In emergencies is have 2 portable airco unit standing bij to keep the ambient temperatuur down.

Just read all 43 pages.

Beautiful tank!

How are the crinoids in your DSR doing? If you still have it/them, how long have you had it in your system?

I love the butterfly reef as well!

Thanks for sharing.

The crinoids are still there 2 of 3 I placed a while ago.
They usually last about 8-10 months
