GlennF's 1500 liter mixed reef tank

Hey Glenn, anything new? How's the new setup going? I saw one of your videos with that crazy deep sand bed filter thing?? Haha. Is that working as planned? It looked very interesting. Will you be doing another thread or just put pieces up in here about that tank?

that is a test project.

i was ask by researchers of ecodeco to test this new filter concept for home sized reef aquariums.
This filter conCept is called Dymico.

i have close contact with marine scientist Tim Wijgerde, who is doing the research.
this is also a method without waterchanges, which can benefit our hobby greatly.
i am specially interested in it's capabilty to keep NPS corals.

I have noticed in German and Dutch forums who have been having a warm summer.
Besides fans what other things have you done to help with the Heat. My wife keeps the air conditioning on 70 degrees all the time so temp is not an issue unless the A/C stop's working.

Good for you! Work hard play hard. That's what we live by. We've been all over lately. Fishing, mountain bikeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, etc.. It's been really hot here in Washington state this year. Been fun though.

I'm very thankful that we have AC in our house. It's not real common for homes here to have it. We generally only see a short period of hot weather.

The new tank already looks great. It filled up fast. Haha. Hopefully that new filter will last long term.

Your Reef is a great inspiration.
I hope the summer with the heat does not affect too much the system.
All inhabitants demonstrate good health.
Congratulations!

life is to enjoy!
you have listed al my favourites ....

in here we get maybee 3-5 dat above 30 celcius per year.. no sense in spending money on airco's.

frags or garbage?
most people would classify the piece beneath the algae as frag.
it was necessary to cut it down because the layer beneath was not getting enough light.
