Goby Compatibility Question

I had a Diamond Goby in a 120 G tank for a few months and it was doing great. Now I can't seem to find it. There is a fat mandarin goby in the tank also. Could he be the cause of the disappearing diamond goby? Can I add another diamond goby w/o worrying about the mandarin stressing it?

Diamond gobies often don't do well, unfortunately. They rarely take to prepared foods unless you carefully train them, and unlike the mandarin, they are strictly sand sifters. The two were/are competing for food, nonetheless.

The mandarin is unlikely to show aggression -- more likely the other way around. Those gobies are good at hiding, though; he may still be in there.

Mandarins are completely oblivious to anything but a food source or another mandarin. Since the diamond is neither, he would pay no attention.

Possibly your diamond has tunneled under one of your big rocks and denned up. Don't try to find him: moving rocks could injure or trap him. He may yet reappear.
