i bought a sand sifting goby, and am trying to get him to take prepared foods. i read a page on how to teach him, but hiding the food in the sand is hard for me(step 1). any tips at all?
I use a pipette with a piece of rigid tubing attached as a feeding tube (looks like very long, very thin turkey baster). I thaw out frozen food (mysis, brine, plankton, Marine Cuisine, etc), use the pipette to collect some of the food, and then insert it below the sand. Easy peasy. The gobies now recognize the feeding tube and come running, attacking it while I'm hiding their dinner
ADD --> I should note, I don't keep two spots, I have a pair of sixspot sleeper gobies. Not sure if the two spots are harder to keep, but my pair is fat and happy using the above method and take everything offered as long as it's a crustacean - they want nothing to do with pieces of fish or squid.
