Going All Out - 330+ Project!

And to make things even more crazy, I'm seriously considering MAKING my tank...out of plywood! That's right, after getting another quote of over $1800 for an acrylic tank this size, I'm really wondering if a tank is worth that much. I'd rather put that money to good use in equipment. The tank just has to hold the water.

My research continues into the plywood tank...

After researching the plywood tank aspect, I'm still very much interested in doing it. I've learned that with glass over 24", you're better off with acrylic. So it looks like I'll be using acrylic for the front pane. I also won't be using a Wavebox with a plywood tank, since I've read that the tank won't stand the pressure very well.
I'm still checking to see how I can incorporate a side view pane with a plywood tank. I think I will have to make it slightly smaller, since I will need some support on the corner brace. I'll attach pictures of what I'm thinking on doing.
Input is appreciated...especially since I'm going into uncharted waters....

Here's an updated sketch. Disregard the measurements, since they will have to be tweaked due to the plywood tank construction.

The tank will be build out of ply, with the front and side panels being clear cast acrylic. The external overflow will be acrylic. I plan on routing an edge into the back for the overflow panels to slide into. They will then be sealed in with silicone, and possibly some of the epoxy/fiberglass that will be used to make the tank. I want to have a clear overflow, so I can see into it.
