Going on my first scuba dive tomorrow!

yea, having a good wetsuit is nice, but it comes with the price... you have to schlep/wear a ton of weight! and even with the wetsuit, you still gotta get out of the water and out of the suit...

shorties are teh best... love close tropical waters... not quite warm bath water, but just a little cooler then that, and a little warmer then here...

but have fun... btw: is it naui?

Better still is Anacapa Island off Ventura. Visibility often exceeds 100 feet and there are incredible varieties of fish and invertebrates. It is a not take National Park, so it's not unusual to see 100's of lobsters and abalone.

That's interesting... my wife and I just went diving on 7/3 (she was getting certified, but I've been certified for about 5 years).

What boat did you go on? Maybe we crossed paths?

I was in Avalon, right next to the casino. It was packed with divers but still fun. Very cool first dive.

Glad to hear you had a great time. I have dove off casino point many times. Thats a great dive and an easy one too though you have to be careful watching your depth as it drops off very fast there. Are you certified now? I need to dust my gear off one of these days. Its been a while since I was out last. I really want to get a dry suit as it makes our cooler water more pleasurable. If I had a dry suit, I would dive a lot more than I do these days. Especially since I have a boat.

Now you need to get yourself a spear gun or sling! There are some monster white sea bass and yellow tails around the islands. If you really have the balls, night diving for lobster is a real blast! Well, night diving is a real blast in itself. Nothing like being the ocean in the darkness of night when all you can see is the area in front of you that the spotlight covers!

As thegrun mentioned, there is some great diving out of channel islands and its pretty darn convenient since we are from Simi.
