Going to dump my 10 year old retrofit for LEDS

My custom built hood for my 29 gallon is on its last limb and since I need to dump it was thinking of dumping my 150 watt retrofit as well. I have a friend who has an LED company and we put one of their 120 watt fixtures over my tank which looked amazing. Said it was too powerful for my size tank since it was over a much larger tank but it couldn't hurt right? Wondering if there would be any problem with that much power or if I am better of going with a lower wattage fixture.

Unless its dimmable the increased lighting intensity could be harmful to your existing coral if they are not aclimated

Not sure if yours is dimmable, but I think they are better. It makes acclimating the corals easier. And as betamed said it could be to much at once and burn them.

So I assume by acclimating them it would have to be dimmable than to control the amount of light coming in? I dont see any other way to acclimate since most of my corals can not be moved from where they are attached. The unit that I tested I did not see a dimmer on it. I will try and find out if there is one I can get with a dimmer. Is the amount of wattage ok or should I go with something that is not as powerful for this size tank?

It sounds like a pretty intense fixture for a 29
People have used screens or raised the height of the light to allow acclimation
