I think both magnifica and gigantea are tough, tough to get and establish initially. However, they are both ridiculously hardy imo once established.
I've tried 4 ritteris.
1st fresh shipped, got it out of the bag at LFS. Had this in 95 and was my second anemone ever. Kept for 5 years before tearing down the tank
2nd fresh shipped, got out of bag at LFS. Had for 3 years before selling with whole tank
3rd fresh shipped, got out of bag but got delayed in transit. Died in 1 week. Probably the nicest one I had (blue base, yellow tentacled, not dyed)
4th from another tank, 7 years in captivity, kept it 2 years and then sold it to another member on here, doing great. This one fought a vortech and lost but recovered nicely.
Gigantea
Tried two blue ones in the 90s and early 2000s. Both looked good in the store, both got pedal infections and died.
Got another purple one about 8-9 months ago. Came in fantastic. Did great. Wandered my tank while I was on vacation and fought a vortech. Lost. Looked terrible. Shrunk to 1/3 of it's original size and completely bleached. Figured it was a goner and partially shaded it and just watched.
It's now back to 1/2 of the original size with the color back (about 2-3 months after accident) and getting better daily.
There is a fantastic ritteri on the FS forum right now. I saw it in person this last weekend. It is very, very healthy and worth making a drive if possible since you'll know it will do well.
