Gold Head Sleeper Goby

I love this guy, he is hysterical and does his job well. He's about 5 inches long, here is a bad picture of him.

However, he always covers my acans with sand. Even though I blow them off ever night, they are starting Ronen unhappy. Has anyone ever setup some cheap power heads and had them turn on full blast for a minute or so a couple of time a day to blow them off? Any other ideas to keep both the fish & the coral happy besides spending all day picking up after him?

Great fish, but Diamond Watchman is better choice.

Curious as to why you say that. I loved my Gold Head Sleeper but he was tragically murdered. I want to get another but wasn't sure if I wanted that one or go with a different one.

My only complaint with the Gold Head Sleeper was that he seemed to move most of the sand to the back wall of the aquarium but I guess any goby will put it where he wants it.

I'm curious as well. I think he is a great fish, just curious if anyone has rigged up a "blow off" system.

Mine chose one of my islands to build his castle. Covered up the whole base layer of rock, but he seems content now.

Diamond gobies tend to not swim up and cover everything with sand, they scoop and filter at sand level.

Harley, who was the murderer in this case?

Not really sure since I found him ripped in half and didn't appear to be munched on much if at all. I assumed that it was my snowflake eel but thought it was weird that neither half of the goby was eaten. So I guess I really don't know for sure. Other fish in the tank at the time was a Majestic Angel, an evil Lunare Wrasse, Coral Beauty, 2 Ocellaris Clowns, a few scarlet reef hermits and 2 small orange knuckle crabs.

Any thoughts?
