Golden Moray not eating

I picked up a Dwarf Golden Moray eel yesterday afternoon from LFS, and he's not eating. I've had different morays in the past and I can usually get them to eat. The salesman at the store said that the eel hadn't ate, and once acclimated try to get him to eat. Is this normal for this type of eel? He seems to be doing fine moving around and about, and getting along with tank mates. He's not even chasing the two damsels(blue, an three stripe), which I think is great cause the family has grown attached to the little guys. Any insight would be most helpful.

Wouldnt worry just yet mate, mine took 3 weeks to start eating and could have gone even longer IMO. Just let him settle in and he should be fine.
has he got caves to hide in?
Good luck! :)

Morays can go on extended hunger strikes. One of the best foods to tempt is fresh raw squid since Morays hunt by smell.

So he didn't eat at the store according to the salesman? I don't think I would have bought him if I didn't see him eat. Some don't adjust well to captivity. Be patient as he is still getting adjusted.

I've seen him eat at the store days before I purhased him. On the day of pickup he hadn't been fed that day. Thanks for all the uplift, cause I was a little worried about the little guy.

The eel in my tank sometimes won't eat then the next day will suck down 2 silversides, for 2 or 3 days in a row, then skip a day.

Is there a way to tell the differents male and female. I can't seem to find any info.

I would give him a week or so to settle in. My GDM only ate 1-2 times a week depending on if she was hungry or not. When she was out she wanted food, otherwise I never saw her.

I heard and read of a old guy

I heard and read of a old guy

I heard and readied of some old guy, I'm not sure if I can say his name here, but I been searching forums for information that might help me in other things that I would love to do. I did readied many of this old guy's postings and he seems very knowledgable about eels, I read something as well that he still tries to help other, but he lost the use of his legs a few years ago so he don't anymore have any of his own tanks. But I did that is seen some of his photos of the eels and the reef tanks he had, he had such crystal clear water.

I hope that it was ok to only mention about this old guy for I only began searching the forums and there are so many things I can read here at reef central that should help me do better, I have a fish only tank, and I'm hoping in years to come that I can move on to soft corals, and perhaps much later hard corals. :)
