Golden Pearls, Oyster Eggs, & Cyclop-Eeze

From what I understand, sps only eat the 50-100 micron size. i.e. the smallest sized golden pearls they sell.

I have the 50-100 micron size. I've let them soak in a cup of tank water for over an hour. I've stirred it, mixed it, shaken it. When it floats and doesn't go into suspension how are the sps polyps supposed to reach it? I've got an almost full container of it. 50% off for whoever wants it.

You can't turn off the powerheads when feeding this. You need it to stay in the water column. That is purposeful. You should turn off the main pump to keep it in the display or frag tank.

Golden Pearls come in smaller sizes than what is being described and to be more precise anything larger than 50 microns is a waste of time to try and feed SPS with so that puts DT's oyster eggs and Golden Pearls 5-50 micron size as the only two viable sources for attempting to feed SPS with.

As for the feeding of Golden Pearls I have no problems with mine suspending throughout out the entire water column. I soak mine in the same cup with my frozen food for about 15 minutes or so and then dump them into the main tank with the power heads on and the main return pump on as well. Certain corals respond better than others. I am certain though that all corals including SPS benefit from feeding. I have read several articles by Eric Borneman on this. Here is just one article of his.

Thanks for all the input. The only issue I have with DT's Oyster Eggs is that I feel they are a bit on the expensive side.

I use rotifers, oyster eggs, cyclopeeze and reef caviar for my sps. From my observations almost all of my acros take the cyclopeeze. I think consistent long term use, not just a month or 2, increases growth and coloration if you have the filtration and system to handle the feedings.

Unless you have a very low nutrient level tank and your corals are light in color I wouldn't bother with foods.....they add more pollution than they are worth..................waste of money to me.

I've grown 2" frags into massive, colorfu l1-2 foot colonies without any feeding other than the fish population.
