Golden Puffer not active... please help

I got a golden puffer about 7 hours ago. After acclaimate it for about 2 1/2 hrs. I introduced it to the tank. Immediately, I noticed that it is not swimming. It simply sank to the bottom of the tank and had since moved around very little. It is breathing and not doing anything much... such as exploring its new home or stuff like that. Is this normal?
Some other facts: I have treated my tank with copper about 3 weeks ago. Is golden puffer sensitive to copper or lower salinity?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Puffers are very sensitive to copper. I would get it out of there right away. Might not be related to the copper given the time. You also should check the temp and PH.

That behavior is completely normal when a puffer is first introduced. They will sit at the bottom for days until they feel comfortable. I would get a copper test kit as should always have a test kit when using copper. Goldens don't take to copper very well so use some carbon and do a water change. Hope this helps, Tim

My puffer lays on the bottom most of the day. It is normal behavior, but to be safe I would do the copper test to see if there is another problem.

See if you can find some poly filter. Its the best filter to remove copper!!

poly filter is the way to go,alittle pricey but worth it,watch your salinity,they like it high,I wouldn't go any lower than 1.020,22-3 is even better

Sounds like typical behaviour for a newly introduced puffer. After it settles in, it'll likely have a favourite spot that it sits in for a good part of the day. They can be couch potatoes As for salinity, they will tolerate hyposalinity (1.009-1.010) for treatment. For normal day to day I would maintain typical reef sea water values.
