Goldflake Angel...

I've read through this whole thread because my queen angel is showing the same signs. Very long, white stringy poop with a bulge at the anus. I've had it for about a year now. I'll try and post some pics soon but I'm thinking internal parasites. Although it would make sense that it could come from improper nutrition, I mainly feed spectrum pellets and nori. I rarely feed her sponge-based foods. I did start today though...

hi all, this is my 2nd attempt on this beautiful fish.

the first one is a 5 inch which dead in 3 mth.

this time round i got a Juv, since after 4 mth of eating like a pig, it jus stop eating overnight and dead after 1 week.

i am very upset and i really want this beauty in my tank.

helps me pls...

Ive just bought a small goldflake (2.5")Hes currently in qt and feeding well.

It seems these fish can be kept in reef systems, is this the correct assumption? Yes I know all angels can be pickers and each one can decide to nip.

The reason I am asking is that my LFS has a very nice tiny juvi (not showing any of the adult coloration) and was wondering if down the road I could add one to a full reef tank.

I've had mine for about 9 months now and she is doing great. She grown from 2'' to 3.5'' in that period. I did qt her for 2 months with copper and prazi. She's in a mixed reef tank and has been a model citizen so far. Occasional nipping of clam but nothing damaging. I think the key is that I keep her well fed

my goldflake will be going in my reef you can never really tell how they will behave until you try it.I intend to keep him well fed in qt so when he goes in my reef i will leave my corals alone!!

Thought it was time to share this video. I have had these guys for a couple of months now in QT. They are doing really well and I plan on keeping them here for 3-4 more months.

So far they are growing like little horses. I am quite please with how well they get along and play around. It has been 7+ months and not an issue with anything.

They eat everything offered. The smaller one now has a half yellow tail and the top fin has yellow at he top as compared to the complete black tail an black fin of the larger one.

if ur water is ok and he is not suffering from infection, please watch ur tank to see ur clown can disturb him or not. because when clown lay eggs they become more aggressive for for tank mate.

Does anybody have an opinion on getting a Goldflake as a juvenile vs an adult? I'm thinking about getting 2 juvies ( 2"-3") because I think they might adapt better by learning from each other. Or is it better to just get a 3" -5" one?

I currently have a 5 year old Regal Angel so I do have some experience with delicate fish.

Do juveniles (2-3 inches) adapt easier to captivity or is it best to get an adult or larger Goldflake (3-5 inch)?

I just picked up a 2.5" juvenile goldflake angelfish. My LFS does a nice job of quarantining all of their fish, but I am going to house him in a 46g QT for awhile just to be sure.

Any tips/suggestions?

I'd like some tips as well.

I originally had a 2"-3" juvenile that lasted only 3 days. He came in looking pretty bad. I want to try again ( Kevin at PIA was great to work with). I'm just concerned that they might not ship really well. The Goldflake juvenile ate the first day but he just went downhill fast.

Has everyone who's ordered one thru mail-order had problems with this particular angel?

Hi im a huge fan of this angelfish.

I got one last jan from my lfs he was 3" i kept him in quarantine for 6 weeks.
I made sure he was well fed on a variety of different foods.

I got a 2-3" Juv Goldflake coming in from Pacific Island Aquatics next week. I hope it will come in fine. I'll let you know if it ships well. I also have a 5" adult in my DT right now, bought it from a RC member here. He had it for a year or so and starting eating all his corals, so I bought it off him. Nice and fat. I've had it for over a month now. Eats everything including NLS pellets.
