Goniopora: advice, care and show-off!

I thought goniopora had 24tentacles per polyp and alveopora has 12 tentacle per polyp. mine has both 12 and 24 tentacle polyps. Is it a goniopora or alveopora? It was sold to me as a goniopora.

That one big polyp on the bottom has 24 tentacles and there are other polyps like it on the other side.

Hi Guys, all of you have some really lovely gonis.
I just picked this guy up yesterday, It seems to have two circles of tentacles on each polyp and the polyp stems are hard to the touch.

All I have is this cell phone pic. Can anyone help me with species ID and specific care info? all will the polyps extend further than this?

That looks more like a pagoda cup coral, not a goniopora. Its about as open as it will get.

can you take a shot of the coral with full retraction and full extension. The tentacles on a goni should be soft and retracts fully - well into the corallite.

maybe im doing something wrong but mine doesn't extend like the ones im seeing in this thread

It depends on the goniopora species, some extend 3-4", others hardly 1/4"
