flow is not an issue ,im sure ,the goni was doing great,up until a month ago and nothing has changed in the tank,

thanks

That doesnt mean ANYTHING. It could have not liked the condition, and just slowly been going downhill.

always learning----so curious as to why it is a bad idea to fresh water dip

Think about it. A coral going downhill is extremely delicate. Sometimes FW dips are good, but on a coral going downhill it just adds further stress and may push it over the edge. It would be like taking you and putting you in a vaccuum with no oxygen that is 200 degrees when you had pneumonia. Drastic change in environment. FW dip serves pretty much no purpose other than to combat parasites. Your issue isn't parasitic...why add stress. Cyano on it is just a sign that your tank is sub par condition, however, this may not be the case and assuming this would be ignorant. Also, there are much easier ways to get rid of cyano off a coral like brush it off or with a turkey baster/ph. The cyano wasn't what was causing your problem, but more likely sub par water conditions, lack of feeding, etcetcetc.

I agree with Serioussnaps. I don't understand the benefit to a fresh water dip in this case. If there is a fear of a bacterial infection, which it could be, I would use an iodine based dip. They don't seem to stress corals out to bad and they can stop an infection in its tracks. If I had a sick goni the first thing I would do is contact John Kelly.
