My lfs out here has these ufo shaped led lights that are supposed to be pretty good and they arent to expensive. If you want I can get a pic and price for you. These are the lights that they use on their frag tanks.

My lfs has had them over their frag tanks for a few months now and they seem happy with them. They are very basic though and thats what I dont like about them. If I had a par meter im sure they would let me test them but they dont carry them at the store and I dont have one yet. I will be back by there on Monday and will get the pic and price for you. I hope thats not to long to wait but this weekend is gonna be a busy one for me.

The tek light is the best priced option but you will have to buy the acrylic shield and hang kit or tank legs but will still be cheaper than the ati fixtures. I like the ati fixtures because they have dimmable fixtures, they have better reflectors, and the come with everything you need. There are also other t5 fixtures out there but I think that the tek fixtures and the ati fixtures are imo the best. But I will still get you the pic and price of that led light for you on monday for an led comparison.

I don't think a 4 bulb will cover the area of the whole tank and I DONt wanna have to use a MHL. I have 2other tanks going also

I know that ATI makes a 6 bulb and an 8 bulb 24" fixture, but they're pricey to set up over a frag tank. What type of coral do you plan on keeping in the tank?

When I was looking at Sanjay's site I came up with this combo. Efficiency vs cost vs color and overall growth. The limit is the large reflector but 24x24 dimentions you have should be fine. Of course i build my own LEDs so what do I know...

- Iwasaki 175 Watt 15000K Metal Halide Bulb (Mogul Base) $79 (168W/bulb)
-IceCap 175W MH Electrinic Ballast $119
- Lumenarc III Mini Mogul
Base Reflector $129 (14.5x14.5)
Total: $327

DIY LED with Reefledlights and Rapidled are a great option for the handy person.

Reefgeek will never let you down if you go with Florescent (new dim-able drivers! So cool!) But for a frag tank don't waste your money dimming.

The tank is 26x26x16

Go to his sight @ Manhattan reefs and read his posts. You will be well informed and have a much better idea how to pick a better light. To get you started look specifically at my recommendations and then go from there and see if you can do better (for your specific needs). It will take you a few days to do your homework but it is worth it.
