So I bought a leopard wrasses from reef-to-go about 2-3 weeks ago. The box was wet when I saw it on the porch in immediate panic I opened it as fast as I could to find the leopard and angle in about a 1/2 inch of water in the bottom of the styrofoam box on their sides barley breathing. I added two cups on my tank water immediately. I'm sure it shocked them a bit but it was all I could do. I tried to drip him for the next house and was not looking good. The angel came right back. I put the leopard in the tank but he did not look good. I saw him go into the sand and he was gone...never to be seen again. Until last night!! I was up late working on some stuff and sure enough over in the corner of the tank was the beauty. He looks fat and happy, are they nocturnal? =) I read a few other incidents of this with leopards so it has happened in the past. I guess just shock, glad I have a good member of the tank! Every time I get a new fish it is like a new member of the family is added.

PS: I'm sending the Gen-x40 into pacific cost imports today to get fixed. Gonna cost some funds for my stupid mistake...never adjust the skimmer and then go take a shower...stupid stupid stupid! Water + pump = electrical fire"¦.

Great news Shane what trpe of leopard is it? I have a common Meleagris they are beautiful fish. Good luck with your new baby.BTW probably wrasse jet lag he should adjust his sleep cycle to your feeding times in time

you know Grant i read that too, that they have a sleep cycle and if it is messed up it can take months to get in a new rythym. major jet lag, he still looks fat! But i have pods the size of a dime. I'm srious they looks like large insects. I'll try to snap some pics of them and post them sometime next year....ahah

It is the Macropharyngodon bipartitus type...is that common? It was $45 or so.

PS: cost me $25 just to send the pump out to the company..they i have to pay to have it fixed...then i ave to pay for it to be shipped back....i really feel like an idiot. I'm going to build a vented acrylic box so that never happens again.

Shane mine is the most common it has the same markings as yours but only red around the edges of its fins, I think yours is the one with the whole front half the great red color and yes we need some pics of that beauty congrats on a great fish. oh and those large pods are in for it mine won't even come out until after lights out anymore my wrasses(3) pounded them. Some may dissagree with this but when I get a wrasse to get it to eat given food I will take brine and mysis soak them in zoe and a bit of garlic before feeding this usually works for me, kind of important because these guys are pigs and will wipe your pods out in no time so you have to get them going on regular food pretty quick. About your pump would it have been cheaper to buy a new one?

if you ever get a fish in that condition i would temp acclimate it only and get it into your tank after 10-15 minutes of the temp acclimation . wrasses are so delicate and the faster you get a poorly shipped fish out of that bag the better . i have had this happen to me and have found this to be very sucessful in thease circumstances .i hope he does well and check out the "leopard wrasse primer"as there may be some useful information for you in it .

thanks for the info jamwrasseman, I'll check it out.

Grant- the wrasse has the nice markings you are talking about, it's my favorite fish now! =)

haha yep the monkey face eel for sure! oh man...the cow fish is buried out by the maple tree, her old fav =( ...I think she likes the powder brown gold rim tang. I want 6 more fish and I'm calling it stop on the fish, here is the list:

1. blue spotted jaw fish
2. pair of purple fire fish
3 blue gold rim tang
4 Achilles tang or a purple tang or a black tang if i get a really good price
5 some more antheis (Elvis type) females
6 magnificent fox face
