Depending on macro, go with an invert. There are very few herbivores that will fit int hat size tank. Furthermore, they might not even eat the algae at all.
Thanks, I can add plenty of inverts, I have a few snails, but they are more specific to noxious micro algae. Blennies are potentially a good option though.

That said, I can always evaluate and bring the fish back if not, but.....lots of trouble.
The refugium has a variety of macro algae, I want to make sure it does not get lose, while I am an expert at manual removal and trimming, I greatly to prefer herbivores,
better them, than me.
I've got a good hold on micro algae herbivores that do not eat macros, but, I would like to move more into smaller tanks than can handle other management issues/goals with macro algae.
I have less background on those critters.
