Got a diamond goby yesterday, still not working on the sand

The fish needs to feel at home before any natural behavior takes place. Give it time up to a week or two is normal sometimes

Be ready for a sandstorm! I used a canister filter for the first 2 days after I got him. Then all was good - he cleans the sand with no mess.

thanks michelle, i heard they are kind of jumpers, my midas blenny jumped 3 times in a week but luckily i was home back then, hasn't jump for about 8 months, i used to have a goby sleep head (or whatever their name is) lol but he used to put sand all the time on top of everything

They sure are jumpers. I had a large one (~4-5 inches) and he managed to jump through the eggcrate covering the QT. I'm not even sure how he was able to squeeze through it. I found him a good 6 feet away from the tank. Decided not to try another one.

Be careful what you ask for in the sand sifting department :lmao:

Got my fish yesterday and the Midas Blenny is amazing, my McCosker's wrasse is beautiful and very mature male, and my Royal Gramma is tiny and my Cherub is being an *** and chasing him. I think the Blenny and Wrasse stood up to him so he is pretty much leaving them alone now. I can't believe how tiny the RG is I mean about an inch and I asked for a medium :hammer: He was pretty much dead when I got the bag open so he had a fast track acclamation.

NO I didn't quarantine them and I do know the possible issues, Lets just say it's not possible for me to have a second tank where I am :hammer: I'm actually lucky and pushing my luck with the one I have.

Anyway I'm going to make a bottle trap to catch the Cherub and he will get a vacation in the sump, for a while.

you added some smore, give it a couple days and see if it stops before you move him, mine only chase my firefish, maybe once or twice a day, but nothing crazy

Oh this is crazy fast chasing where the Cherub gets frantic. I will see what tomorrow brings but my little RG doesn't stand a chance. At least The midas blenny is about 4" and the wrasse is about 3 so they could and I think the Midas has stood up to the Cherub. But I do think an attitude adjustment of some time out in the sump is in order. He'll have a lot of pods and algae to eat.

Before lights out the Cherub was going nutzo on the wrasse again so yeah in the morning I'll make a bottle trap and get er done!

I found the easiest way is to wait at least 2 hours after lights out flash it with a very bright light and then catch it, I forgot, how big is your tank???

Alright guys, got a new one that went to work wishing 5 minutes of been on the tank

Looks like you're not putting your fish through a QT process. These fish commonly waste away and some chalk it up to a depleted sand-bed... quite often, it's due to internal parasites (these guys are particularly susceptible). Just something to keep an eye on if their bellies get skinny even while still eating hearty amounts of prepared foods.

Good Luck
Mike
