GPH turnover question

The tank: 55 gallon standard (4'/1'/18")

Pumps: 2x 700-800 gph hydor koralias.

Is this enough? Keeping easier SPS corals (seriatoporas, stylo's etc.)

Thanks

GPH turnover question

I keep my SPS in a turnover rate of 30-50 total volume per hr.... If you're getting a real 800 gph on each pump you should be okay to keep easier sps.

You are right about the minimum for SPS tank IMO..
Some run up to 100x volume/hour w/sps..
But yes 30-50x should be sufficient..
You are right under 30..

With that size tank you might want to add a third power head to the mix. Sometimes the GPH specified on the box is not as it seems underwater. Also, with sps you would be better off erring on the high side as opposed to the low IMO.

I would go higher. You only have 1400 to 1600. Also if you have a sump take the return pump out of the total.

Thanks guys. Going with 2x 1500 gph koralias. For some reason they're the exact same price as the 800 gph's. This should get me over 50x turnover rate.
