Trip 3: Osprey V (Hastings Reef)

i went snorkeling with posidon. awesome snorkeling all the way to the ribbon reefs.. we also went on a 5 day liveaboard with carins dive center. are u gonna get a chance to go to the yungala wreck? something i missed out on and would love to see so pictures of.

Beautiful!
Have you visited any local fish stores? If yes, have you seen this beauty reflected in their livestock?

Great pics Jorge. We are counting down......8 days before we leave.....
It took me forever to find hotels In OZ that offer free internet. Not a common thing down there. I hope we have some decent weather, going on a 4 day live aboard to the Ribbon Reefs, Cod Hole and Lizard Island. What camera are you using?

Thanks everyone.

Andrea....that Live Aboard is without a doubt gonna be part of my next trip down. My wife doesn't dive so this time around I didn't get to do it. But hopefully when I go back (in thirty years or so) I'll get it done.

I some brochures of Lizard Island and the Cod Hole. They look amazing and you'll have a great time.

The camera is a Panasonic DMC-ZS5 with the underwater housing specifically made for it by Panasonic. It has worked great but without a doubt, I'd get a strobe light for it. Even if it's one of the smaller cheaper ones I think it would help, especially on cloudy days which is what we had mostly.

The last day we had some great sun but I haven't been able to get those pics up. Unfortunately, Hastings wasn't the most matured reef we visited.

Tom, I am not fully certified yet, just PADI Scuba so Im pretty sure I can't do wrecks but either way, not something I would have planned because I really wanted to stick to the reefs. Im sure the wreck would be amazing too though!

Didn't really have time to visit any LFS but I did ask at every hotel if there was one nearby...unfortunately there wasn't.

I am currently in NZ and we are headed out in a few hours to swim with Dolphins and Whales. They say they don't guarantee we'll see them but that they have had a bunch of them lately....those photos to come soon (again, dependent on internet. It's even more expensive in NZ!!).
