I was out on a date with my wife and we had time to kill before the movie so we went into petco. We walk to the salt water section and I see they are selling a pretty big colony of mixed zo's mostly whammin watermelons and neon greens. I decide to stick my hand in the tank and flip it around and to my amazement...

1 nickle sized poly of a Purple People eater. The lights of thier tanks are so [profanity] i had to get peoples opinions whether the poly had a white or green mouth consensus was that it was green. I was so darn happy cause PPE's are pretty expensive like 50 bucks a head and more in some places. I got the whole rock with like at least 100 polyps mixed variety plus a PPE and this sweet creme and brown looking Zoanthid for only 36 bucks.

As son as this sucker opens up I will take pics. Visit your local petcos you might find some primo stuff they have no idea the value of.

Unfortunately the one near me, the last I saw, looked like someone tossed their cookies into the tanks and they left it that way :(

OMG when i walk into their saltwater sectin i want to cry most of the fish have ich the corals are under crapy like t2 lights or something. When I got home most of the zo's were dead and calcified over i didn't care cause the PPE was perfect. I wish i could rescue all the fish they have there. They have a sweet strawberry chromis for 20 bucks.

I will not say what store it was and I am not bashing any store at all. But there is not a great deal of care when it comes to the fish dept. They worry more about the dog and cat food. Sorry to say that. they are not a LFS they are a Major Pet Store. They worry more about making money. I remember there being Yellow Tangs with horrible lateral lines and they come in that way. I have been to other "Pet Stores" like Petland and there stuff is not bad. They do take care of their animals and you can get good deals there too. But you can never go wrong with our LFS here is Orlando. Everyone takes care of their fish and corals and I have not had any of them try to sell me something sick. If they are sick then they are not for sale.

I stop by the petland in Leesburgh every once in a while for the same reason. They never know what they have, and sometimes there are some great finds. For the most part though, it is a place that makes your skin crawl. When they first set up thier coral tank, the guy put about 10 chocolate chip stars in the coral tank. I tried to tell him that they would eat the corals, but got told about how he had been working saltwater for over 30 years, so i just walked off and chuckled. I went by there a few weeks ago, and all of the rocks from the corals are still there, but barely a coral in sight, just lots of choclate stars lol. Really sad actually that all of those corals became food for those starfish out of ignorance.

I scored a huge green carpet probably a year or so ago at a petco for about $30 as I recall. I do check out petco every so often just to see if anything awesome is there. Excellent score on those Zoas!
I do feel bad.... and want to rescue all of the fish that arent doing good because of lack of care when I go into the big pet stores. Its pretty sad. Unfortunately my tank just wont hold that many fish.

Good score. The sad thing is if you "rescue" the fish there they simply go and order more. I stopped shopping there all together because of the lack of knowledge and dirty setups.

Be glad that another Mod got here before me. Pull that little trick again, and you won't post here anymore.
