Great Underground LFS in Sunrise!! MUST CHECK THESE GUYS OUT!!!

I'll give my opinion. Sacohen are you saying both of these places are similar. Well, one has a great selection with expert advise, (Marine Net) and the other has your run of the mill stuff and no knowledge of the hobby, (Reef Zone). Just my 2 cents.

No I wouldn't say those two places are the same.
The Reef Zone does not have a great selection, but a good one, reasonable prices and nice people that remember your name when you come in.
Although there selection has diminished since they moved to a smaller location.

I only have softies and fish. I don't collect expensive designer corals and fish.

I just got back into the hobby about a year ago and the stores are not the same as when I was in it 15 years ago.

The only places I found around my house (Davie, Plantation & Sunrise) are Marine Net, The Reef Zone and Pet World.

I would like to here other suggestions, please.

Thanks

I'll give you that, they are very nice people and I do wish them luck at the new store. I am all for helping small businesses succeed. I'm just saying that their selection is weak and no where near what Bernard has at Marine net. Maybe at their new store they will bring in a better selection. Like I said, we should support ALL of our local small businesses and I wish Reef Zone well at the new location.

As far as other local stores in your area, there is Blue Seas on Sunrise and University, Coral kingdom on Taft and the 9100 block and one I haven't gone to in a while is Reefs Edge on Orange Drive and just west of SR 7. Go check them out.I occasionally also visit Living Reefs on Dixie Hwy and just south of Commercial Blvd. They are a small family owned store like Reef Zone.

While I'm down by my parents I check out Reef Zone, they don't have a great selection, but the people are nice (don't expect great advice, but they are nice). For the most part their prices seem fair, and they usually have a great Black Friday sale, I've gotten a few things there very cheap.

I need to check out this marine.net store, I saw on their facebook today they had 19.99 GBTA which is a great price. Next time I am in the area I need to check out Bernards store and petworld (never been there either).

I was there today too. Didn't get anything but water, but he had tons of Yellow Tangs.
Great selection of everything.
They are my #1 place.

Reefs Edge on Orange Drive and just west of SR 7.

Now that im not Prez of the FMAS, ill give you some info that has infuriated me about them for a few years now. Yes nice folks and livestock....But.......

When we have a frag swap, although they choose not to participate, they announce a frag swap sale, and tell customers that if they buy from them, they get into our event for free.

Ive seen this happen for a few years and it is very deceiving. We get folks at the door that are very upset at FMAS for not honoring something we never agreed to .

While I liked their store, i stopped visiting them after this con they have done for a few years now!!

They choose not to participate in the frag swap, no problem with that, but dont misleadingly associate your self afterwards.!!!!

Shows how many meetings I missed, didn't know you wern't president this year :-) Never been to the store you mentioned but yea, that is very deceptive.

Thanks for making me aware of this place! I used to live right on Pine island and commercial...had no clue they were there.

Nice snag Beach Bum. Must have been arm and leg ( ;

Name them CB Beach Bums. "One million dollars," (Dr Evil)

I've been to Bernard's place many times since I found it. I needed to upgrade my filtration but my stand won't allow it so I bought a new stand from him and he also had a custom sump built for me. He's going to lend a hand installing it for a very fair price. I've also purchased some fish from him that I'm very happy with. One of them being a purple tang which is just straight awesome! BTW He's getting a shipment of about 15 or so next week so if you want one you should head out there and let him know before they go. Needless to say, Bernard is now my go to guy for everything...whether he has the item in stock or not.

I was just there yesterday. My 9 year old son bought a Copper-banded Butterfly for me for Father;s day.

Bernard gave him a very good price.

you must have been the guy who was there when i was getting my baby clowns. yeah he is a great guy, helped me with my in ablility to read a test kit correctly. he had a nice set of the platinum clowns for cheap.

I agree with everyone. I've been there a few times and they have a nice selection of both corals and fish. I've bought many things from them. I'm down in Miami so when I go I make sure I'm gonna buy something cuz its right next to the BB&T center.

They only open on the weekends bur if u call them they might let you pass by on a wednesday or Thursday.

Recommended!
