I have never really had much luck with Anemones (15 years of reef keeping under my belt) but I decided to give it another go about 6 months ago. I have a 150 gallon reef tank with a 75 gallon overflow sump that was around a year old and well established when I add the Anemone. Water parameters are spot on. Fish and corals are thriving and growing like weeds.... I would feed the Anem. ever other week and it was responding well to it.

Anyhow...

After acclimating the Anemone it moved around quite a bit for around a week and finally settled in to a spot and stayed there up until 3 weeks ago when I left on business trip for 7 days. The thing VANISHED!!!! I have been searching the tank daily when the lights are on and with a flashlight at night looking for the critter.

Tank mates are...
Sailfin Tang 4"
2X True Perc. Clown
Yellow Watchman Goby
Purple Fire Fish
Royal Dottyback (know its a bad combo but my son talked me in to it) Somewhat getting along...
and a Pajama Cardinal

Cleanup crew consists of...
Large serpent star
Cleaner shrimp
30 or so red/ blue leg hermits
12 Mexican turbos
and quite a few other misc. snails all reef safe...

Is there any chance it is still alive? Protein skimmer has not been going crazy nor have I noticed anything out of the norm in the tank. Checked all overflows and pump inlets.

Keep looking or give up on Anemone and live a happy life? LOL

It's there somewhere and will show up when you least expect it. Unless it climbed into a powerhead but in that case it would have nuked your tank. Also look in the overflow and sump.

Check your overflow ,I had one that got shreaded by a powerhead while at work.All I found were small pieces on the sand bed.A bta will not nuke a tank when shreaded by a powerhead.Now a H.mag even just alittle bit/tentacles gets torn in a powerhead will nuke a tank,I have been there.So hopefully it will show up.
