green carpet anemone

I have a large green carpet that I have decided to sell because it eats everything. The last two times I moved it it was attached to a rock and easy to move, but it is currently attached to the glass of the tank, I want to know how I remove its foot from the glass without hurting it or myself.

try putting some ice cubes in a plastic bag and holding it against it's foot until it lets go.

First, TAKE YOUR TIME.

Second, wearing a glove will help --- the tentacles won't stick to your hand.

Clear out all the sand around it -- if possible. Then slow "tickle" the edges of the foot -- all the way around. SLOWLY trying to get your finger under it.

Can't stress this enough -- TAKE YOUR TIME --- it is easy to end up poking your finger through it --- I did that moving my blue one years ago, thank god it recovered. And if you are starting to get frustrated, walk away from the tank and take a little break.

Todd's right. Slow is good. you can try using a card also, like an old credit card or something but you must be very slow and gentle. injuries to the foot of an anemone are very bad. good luck.

you sound like the DR PHIL of the anemone world.
;)

I prefer a credit card for removal from glass, you can sand down one of the short edges to make a spatula blade then follow todds procedure of tickling the foot with the edge of the card slowy sliding it under. Fingers are too bulky for me. the card also prevents it from reattaching to the glass as you are going.
