Did anyone figure out the significance of the "growth" on my green carpet?

Has not changed since meeting. I emailed luminary about a picture, but I can try to post one.

That is what some of us thought. Will it eventually break off on its own?

Yes, once the internal and external structures are complete. One day it will "pop" off and then be completely independent.

Cool. It hasn't really changed in about 4 months, do you have any idea how long it takes? By the way, my purple Atlantic anemone has one very tumescent tenacle, is that a similar process?

If it has been that long it may just be a damaged or abnormal growth of tissue. Just closely observe the mass, if a mouth begins to form then you know.

It does have a habit of eating urchins so may have been injured by a spine. I'll keep you posted.
