Green Clown Goby and SPS?

I have been doing some research on these and some places say they nip at SPS. Has anyone had any experience with these and if so did they live up the rumor of nipping? I am looking to add another small fish that has some personality to my 90. Currenly there are two false clowns, a yellow tang, a yellow headed jawfish, three glass cardinals, and a mandarin.

Thanks,

Henry

Hi Henry,

They may do some nipping but it is like dwarf angels. Usually they don't do any major damage and the coral and fish will co-exist.

I have owned 2 clown gobies in the past and both times I was sorry I ever bought them. They are one of the cutest fish out there but they have a tendency to "perch" on acros and cause stress that leads to tissue decay and disease. They also have around a 25% chance of nipping.

Dang both of those responses are not sounding good. They look so cute, so I was thinking they would add a splash of color and some personality, but sounds like he is going to add frustration and irritation. Both of which are not cool with the tank...lol.

Thanks ,

Henry

Besides, aside from the negative feedback on them, in a 90, a green clown goby would be practically lost with that much space! It'd be like a big game of Where's Waldo.... only not as amusing when you start thinking that it might be dead and gone!

=P

Engine 7,
I have two false clowns that spawn on a regular basis and two of the 3 glass cardinals spawn as well...lol. They are skidish but pretty.

kathainbowen,
Its funny you say that the mandarin hides all the time and I am like that with him. I start to panic and then get the flashlight...lol. sometimes I do not see him for like a day or two and he shows up and looks right at me like...don't get your undies all in a bunch I am right here. The only reason I panic is because my last one I could not find for a few days and when I did see him he was still barely alive and I guess the sally lightfoot called dibs cause he had him eating him while he was still alive. I think he was sick or something because he had gotten a little skinny. This one now is nice and plump :).

Have three yellows and two greens with acros and have yet to observe any troubles. They perch in the corals, but have not seen any nipping nor can I find any damage. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Same here. I have a 30 gallon and I have a thread with pictures of my YCG titled "is this guy lazy?" u might want to check it out you will have a good laugh. This fish does perch all over the place but I have NEVER seen him nip at any of the corals. He loves perching on my purple monti cap. And if he's not perched on that he's perched somewhere else.
