Green Hair Algae battle

I'm having a bout with Green Hair Algae in certain area of my tAnk and need some advice on how to destroy this nuisance. My levels are all nominal; my PO4 is reading 0.0-0.3. I have had chemipure elite in my sump area to ensure phosphates and other silicates are low.

Wondering if I need to use PhosphateRx or even read about Fluconasol?

Any advice will help. Will post a pic later too.

I got it from a local reefer. But I remember you can google search. A bunch of places offer it

Fluconazole works amazing. Used it in a 180g tank with fish and shrimps and softies. I bought mine at www.payless-petproducts.com

Got some fluconazole and going to give it a try. Did plenty of reading and have read some good use cases. Will update in a week!

I'm on week 3/4 of my treatment of Fluc and I'm happy to report the GHA has been obliterated from my tank thus far. During the process my skimmer has been off and well as my actinics as I read that type of light could effect the treatment. Still experiencing coral growth and no casualties to fish. Once I'd done I plan to do a water change, reintroduce Chemipure Elite, turn on the skimmer, and monitor PO4 levels closely. Big shout out to Mr2Kieu for his generosity providing the Fluc bombs!!!

How much did you dose per gallon? I just bought some.

Are people dosing everyday until they see results, or is this a one time dose?

First do a 20% water change. Use One 200mg capsule per 10 gallons. I opened each pill and poured the fulconazole into a 3/4 filled water bottle. Throw away the empty capsule. Close the cap and shake the bottle to disolve everything. Turn off your skimmer, take out your carbon, and turn off your UV if you have one. Pour the fluc over a powerhead so it gets spread out evenly thru your tank. You should see improvement after about a week. After 2 weeks it should be all gone. Do another 20% water change. If GHA is still present, repeat another cycle. Good luck!

The usual dose I've seen (and used successfully for bryopsis) is 20 mg/gallon, so 1 200 mg pill per 10 gallons. So I'm wondering if you really recommend 10 times that amount, or if that's a typo?

Also FYI BRS sells this now.

Thanks all, ill keep you posted.

I do have some GHA but notice that some rocks have turf algea (which im doing research if this is the same thing) Wondering if this will take care of it.

I do have a phosphate reactor going and been doing water changes along with dimming the lights. Ill stop the water changes during the treatment.

Folks, just wanted to update with a pic, and what a change after a month. PO4 has risen slightly since the treatment and I'll work on mitigating it down, but despite that corals are still doing well and aren't being suffocated anymore. All other levels are good, and skimmer gets turned back on tomorrow. Hope this lasts.

Thanks for your input and advice
