green star polyps dont opened

I purchase a green star polyp frag a week ago, and now they dont opened and they seem crumbed apart, they are beautiful when i purchase them at first time because most people saying that gsp are hardier soft coral and can thrive even high nutrient system

my current parameter is :

Nh3=0
no2=0
no3=15ppm
po4=0.02 ppm
ca=425 ppm
kh=14 dkh
ph=8.8
salinity=1025 sg
temp=28 celcius

i have a little bit experience about green finger coral before as they look unhappy for week before they sprung into healthy, but i am new to this encrusting type soft coral

Have you been using PH buffer? your PH and ALK are both high. Do you know what the source parameters were? It is really hard to kill GSP but a big enough swing can kill anything.

What kind of light are you using? Do you keep other corals with succes? No fishs nipping the polyps when they are open?When i had poor light i tend to lose even gsp.

I using a 25 watt led designed for reef coral, and i have a few lps ( torch , blasto, hammer and and plate) and sps (chilli pepper green monti), as the sps is inside the system , i have to keep alk stable by using a buffer to keep stabilze alk level, and i have 4 softie like neon green finger, brown cabbage coral, palypto and ricordae yuma mushroom, all doing great in my current system setup, and you just mention high alk, do high alk effect coral?

I'd agree, the alkalinity and ph are too high. I know people who dose kalk in their ATO, and their levels aren't that high. You might be overdosing.

Also, I'm not sure how big your tank is, but the lighting could be too little.

I also have an issue with mine. But it's an 8g mixed reef with kessil A80, got mushrooms, zoas, lps and sps in there as well and they're fine. PH 8.2

Nitrate 1-2ppm
Phosphate undetectable
I'm thinking too much waterflow maybe? It's going in a new tank next week, in which waterflow won't be as strong.

Actually my tank is 20 gallon, and i dont actually using commersial kh buffer instead, i using a baking soda because i recently has a alk swing, my actual target is around 9 to 12, and if my kh is too high, then how to lower a bit? will they effect my sps and lps?

I keep my alk at 9 or slightly under, using a dose and hand dosing when necessary. 12 seems way too high. I believe the only way to lower it is through water changes, and even then, you want to do it real slow. No more than a point a day is what they say, but I'd go with 1/2 a point to be safe.

Hey Melfy77. What's your light schedule? Haven't found a sweet spot with my a80. I max out at 45% intensity

I'll check again tonight but know I max out at 90 or 95% what tank do you have?

I think that might be too high.

I had mine at 65% white and 85% Blue during peak hours, and have since slowly dialed it down to 40% white, 65% blue and 15% special - I think that may be my final settings.
