Green Star Polyps

Not sure if this is the proper forum but...

I'm having problems getting my recently purchased green star polyps to come out. 3-4 will pop out but not the whole colony...

Any ideas. I placed them at the bottom and have moved them a couple of tims trying to pick a good place.

Any thoughts on flow and lighting.

MH 70w HQI in a 24g AquaPod - Many other corals doing nicely.

maybe too muc hlight?

if they came fro ma tank with lower light it ould be the reason, also

they do that sometimes, jus tleave it and give it some time is what id do

How long has it been? Do you notice any algae growing on the gsp mat? Run your finger across the mat to be sure no brown diatoms are coming off.

They should do fine with medium flow, high flow will prevent them from coming out all the way, too slow could allow diatoms to grow if they aren't coming out. I just got some gsp and I also have the 70W, but on a 12g cube. I've also had them under PC and under 400w halide, they are very adaptable. This colony is sitting on the bottom of my 12g, took them two days to all come out but now their all out.

Best,
Angela

I too have the GSP in my Aquapod 24gal with the 70w MH lighting. It took about a couple of days before they started to show.

Just leave it alone. It will acclimate itself again everytime you move it. If you don't have bad water params, it should be fine. Just give it some time and leave it alone. :D

I just moved around my tank and they closed, they opened about 2 to 3 days later. give it time, check all your water levels and stuff. Find ot if there is any algea over it.

GSP's are just weird like that, mine close up from time to time for no apparent reason then a couple days later they're back to normal. id just leave them alone and let them do their thing

I have them in my 24g Aquapod 150HQI and one colony opened up right away and had another colony that took 3 days to fully open.

GSP are funny, but I'd definately give them some time. We have had ours growing under lights ranging from 20W Normal Output Flourescent to 400W halides. It does tend to grow faster when placed properly under the 400W halides, however, it still spreads like a weed under 96W PCs.

Green stars love random water flow. The more the better.
Lots of wave action. Give them med. light, great flow, alittle
food and alot of room. I went through the same thing tease
them with water flow. gfi dbr
