Too much purple/blue in this tank now that I can see the colours coming through. Am on the lookout for some nice frags of other colours!

With an assistant like this who wouldn't do tank maintenance? She was born a reefer :) This is definitely going to make the photo slide-show at her 21st :roflmao:

In other news.... tank is happily churning along. Just been settling into a routine, trying to maintain low P04 and dosing some nitrate. All corals have been growing and im letting everything settle in and mature. Was going to take some growth comparison pics today, but got a bit keen and decided to finally glue a tabling acro (that liked falling fortnightly) into place. Pulled out the KZ speedglue and proceeded to turn the tank into a cloud.
Might have a chance to try again tomorrow once it clears up ;)

Pretty sure your sump and undertank area the cleanest I've seen. Looking forward to watching it grow in and eagerly awaiting the top down shot.

Thanks for the pictures it is giving me ideas on how to do a false wall for hiding the wires. Also when you did the acid wash do you neutralize the acid first and then dump it?

This is one great build. Subscribed!! Finally someone did what I was thinking to do on my next tank and put Vortechs on the bottom of tank. How they working for you? Any problem blowing sand upward? Your aquascape is work of art, can't wait to see more when corals grow out even more.

Thanks for the compliments guys :spin3:

The false wall is fantastic. I hate seeing cables dangling everywhere.

To neutralise the Acid I poured 500gm Bicarb soda in. Stirred it around a bit and then started rinsing the rock out. I had no problems with it still being active.

Thanks for reading

Hi Mark, they arent actually vortechs on the bottom. They are simply the vortech cages (salvaged from some old mp40wes) that I modified and use for intake screens for the closed loop plumbing.

Putting vortechs on the bottom of a reef tank would be a really bad move. He's just using the prop covers.

Meller, this is a very nice build thread.

Great cautious you have made everything an the attention to detail e awesome.

Corals look great for such a short period of time since the tank was set up.

If I would to be a picker in such an amazing project, it would be the aquascape: personally, I think the feeling of depth and magnitude could be increased if you would raise a little bit ( say, 15cm) the overall rock structure, maintaining the actual shape. It would also give some more room for coral growth or coral placement. Just my two cents about it.

Other than that, very nice!

The pottery is beautiful indeed!
