griss' Tank Upgrade Thread

I’m getting the feeling that it’s not a stand pipe leak, but a leak in that insert.
That's what I'm thinking as well, hence the use of the silicone. If that doesn't work...not sure what I'm going to do because I don't know how the heck I'd get that insert out and that's assuming I could get a replacement from Pro Clear.

Question for everyone. I've always let silicone cure for 24 hours before adding water but, that was with resealing a tank or adding an overflow weir. So, the silicone was always fully open to the air. Would you let this cure longer before doing a water test since it's in a fairly enclosed area and between the pipe and glass? I ask because AI is telling me that it takes 7-10 days to fully cure and safely hold water.

What’s the manufacturer recommend?
I’d go with that

7-10 days!!! Uhhg, that is torture!

Directions in the tube say fully cured in 24 hours with a 1/8” bead. Then goes on to say it reaches its greatest strength in 7 days.

I would not have that patience.
Cheers to you!
Let’s hope she’s dry.
Oh, I'm antsy and nervous as all get out. If this damn thing is still dripping, I might drain/dry out the overflow and just fill the entire bottom with silicone. I have two caulk sized tubes on hand.

That would fix the leak, LOL.
I’m mostly joking😉
If the two surfaces were clean and dry it won't leak. Did you install that nut on the bottom to hold it while it was curing?
Yes I did.

Water in the overflow testing it tonight.

Also, received the longer pieces of T-Slot I ordered for the light fixture. For some reason, Tnutz sent the long pieces UPS and the hardware USPS. The hardware is scheduled to be delivered Friday.

Here’s the T-Slot with the brackets for the Euroquatics lights that @kharmaguru made for me…thanks friend!!
