Group Buy From 2 Part Solution

Slave to the reef!
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in going in on an order of bulk supplies from www.twopartsolution.com?

The main things I would like to order are GFO, Carbon, Magnesium Chloride, and DI resin.
From the looks of it the more we buy the cheaper it is. Here are some prices without shipping costs.

GFO- $2.50 lb. minimum of 20 lbs.
Activated Lignite Carbon- $3.00 lb. minimum of 40 lbs.
Magnesium Chloride- $1.43 lb. minimum of 35 lbs.
Nuclear Grade DI Resin - $3.89 lb. minimum of 44lbs.

Keep in mind in order to get these prices we must be able to order the minimum weight listed. If we don't order the minimum the prices will be higher. Also, like I had mentioned before these are the prices without shipping charges.

I was thinking we could set this up now and make it so we can get it shipped right before the big frag swap in October. I would be willing to be in charge of the ordering and splitting up of the product. In order for this to work I would require all orders to be paid for in advance, and everyone would be responsible for their own shipping.

All items would have to be picked up at the frag swap unless other arrangements are made in advance.

What do you guys think? Anyone interested? I know there are quite a few of us who go through a lot of this stuff, here is a good way to save some money on it.

I will start the order.

10lbs GFO
10lbs. Carbon

Remind me what GFO is/does again?

phosphate remover, you run it in a canister filter or phosban reactor

Now these are not the same as RO filters correct?

nope, they are just the DI resin for RODI filters the last stage.

So........can you use the resin as a replacement in most of the standard third chamber units? Just wondering, I have only had to replace mine once so far but it was sold in a cylinder.

Also, where is this frag fest going to be held?

Thanks!

Trying again...l
The resin will replace the last chamber in a RO/DI unit?
The October frag even is in the QC?

Robyn, you would have to check and see if your DI cannister is re-fillable. If not you would need to get one that is then it would work. A re-filliable cannister is cheap. The filter guys have them, so does DF&S.

You say you have only changed it once. In how long of a period? DI Resin only makes like 200-300 galoons of water before it is exhausted. Do you check your TDS?

It came with new cylinders and since then I have replaced them once. I haven't had it that long and I only use 15-18 gallons a week between my water change and top-off. I have the Coralife 3 stage unit, so I'll have to check with the filter guys or someone to see if I can get a refillable chamber. I do have a TDS tester but to be honest with you the water in my town is horrid and will never read 0.

Actually with a 3 stage unit and a DI unit you should be able to get 0 tds, you might just need to replace your filters and resin more than usual. My water has A LOT of rust so i need to change the 1st sediment filter every 2-3 weeks.

If I can pick it up from someone or somewhere in the QC I'd like to order too:

5 lbs carbon
5 lbs resin
5 lbs GFO

Let me know and thanks!

Just as a heads up to everyone. Make sure to read up on DI storage. It needs to be kept sealed and damp. As little air exposure as possible. I would think double zip-lock bags or really good rubbermade canisters should work. Either way read up and be ready to store it for awhile to ensure it stays "fresh".

Actually the above statement goes for all 3 of these items. They can all lose effectiveness with air exposure.
