**Edit - I read the group buy rules. A little confusing about individual ship group buys. Sorry if I'm breaking rules. I'm not affiliated with this product other than having one and getting another. I also did not benefit any more than anyone else. I purchased using the same supplied links here. If I broke a rule, I apologize in advance. Pretty sure this is within the rules though...
I worked out a great group buy rate on Aquaripure Denitrators with the owner of Aquaripure.com where he has offered about $80+ off per unit. If you thought about using a denitrator with your current skimmer, or just getting rid of a skimmer all together, this is the group buy to participate in. To top it off, the owner gave me a couple links that will set up any one that wants one, with their own shopping cart where you can complete the purchase on your own, and he will ship our orders individually. So you won't have to pay me first, and then make arrangements to pick yours up, none of that. Your order will go right to your door, and you don't even have to tell me you got one. I'm not sure what the RC board will do with the links, so if they don't work then get a hold of me and I'll find a way to get the link to you.

To be honest, this began as an attempt to try to get a free one for the Lutz aquarium, but that didn't work. In my attempt, the owner agreed to work out this deal, which I'll be utilizing as well. I purchased 2 units yesterday, one for myself and one for someone else. Some of you have probably heard me talk of these in the past. I've been running them for 2 years in the absence of a skimmer on my mixed reef with great results. I'll be adding a short review to this post.
Some benefits of a denitrator:
Denitrators do not strip beneficial elements/amino acids/etc from your water, like a skimmer does.
Great Nitrate removal.
Good phosphate removal.
Low low maintenance, almost none.
Very energy efficient, only uses one tiny pump.
Very space efficient, takes up virtually no space in your sump or tank.
Can be used to go skimmerless, or can be used together with a skimmer.
Description of how it works:
The denitrator itself is a sealed canister which sits somewhere outside of your tank. There is one tiny pump that pumps your water into the canister via 1/4 inch plastic tubing. Water runs through the canister, where it is biologically stripped of Nitrate/phosphate, then runs through 1/4 inch tubing back to your tank or sump. The flow is controlled by a ball valve on the return tubing (effluent) and should be kept at a rate of one or 2 drips per second. I might have to adjust this once a month or so on mine, if even. The only maintenance is feeding the bacteria that eat up the nitrates, which consists of injecting some carbon source (Vinegar or vodka) once a week. The vinegar is injected with a 10ml syringe into an injection port (one way valve) on the canister. I inject 4ml twice a week on mine which is double the recommendation. I double the standard dose due to my way overloaded tank which I'll get to in my review. Obviously for further information you can refer to the Aquaripure.com site.
My personal set up and review:
I set up my tank with the goal of being as low maintenance as possible, and as energy efficient as possible. I began using the small size aquaripure (rated for up to 55g) on my 72g I set up a little more than 2 years ago, pretty much right from the start. Since then I changed my glass to a 200g deep dimensions marineland tank, with a 20g frag tank and 55g sump plumbed in, for a total of about 270 gallons. This small size aquaripure has done great even since I upgraded to 270g worth of system over a year ago. The aquaripure is my main source of filtration. I do use a filter sock for mechanical filtration, but I haven't changed it in months. I run GFO and carbon in reactors as well, and a home made waterfall algae turf scrubber that I almost never clean. I dose 2 part to keep up with alk and Ca and barely ever do water changes but I do them. When I do it's usually about 25g at a time, which is almost nothing on this size system. If I had to guess I might say I do that every other week but in reality once a month is probably more accurate.
I have a ton of coral, last count about 50 different acros, all the popular monti's, birdsnests, stylos, several hammers, torches, frogspawns, acans, chalices, trumpets, zoas, pavonas, blastos, etc etc. Those gotta add to the bio load because I do spot feed a couple times a week. For fish I have 6 tangs, 5 leopard wrasses, 6 halecheorus wrasses, a blue jaw trigger, 2 clowns, 2 dottybacks, a possum wrasse, scotts wrasse, watchman goby, another wrasse and another tang in the frag tank, and probably a few more I'm forgetting. I used to keep nitrated at about 2ppm when I had about half this fish load, with the aquaripure and above maintenance regimen. I haven't measured in quite a while but I just did a few days ago, and the nitrates are at a whopping high of 12ppm and the po4 is at .21ppm. I do need to change GFO a couple times a month to keep up with po4, but my god, look at my bio load! That's a ton of fish! Even with those numbers, I have no algae issues or cyano and have not for quite some time. I do get some cyano in my sump fuge but nothing crazy. Coraline algae is my biggest enemy as of right now.
So due to that bio load, I'm going to add another size small aquaripure and just run them both. I have nothing but good to say about the company Aquaripure. I had one of the injection port valves go bad, and emailed the owner, who sent out a replacement no questions asked and no fee, over a year after buying the aquaripure. That, mixed with the great deal he has offered our club, is why I took the time to type this and offer it up to everyone.
Here is the response from the owner of Aquaripure, and the outline of the deal he offered:
Hello Dave,
I will give you 25% off any filters you get. I will go ahead and include the links to pay the Medium and Small in this email. Whoever orders can have it shipped to them directly or put in alternate billing and shipping addresses, it doesn't matter to me.
Also, skimmers are fine to use with the Aquaripure and they compliment each other well although a skimmer is not needed with the Aquaripure.
Medium (rated up to 130g) - 25% off (Regular price $289 + shipping) Group Price $216.75 + shipping

Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.

So that said, I'm sure the guy would honor the 25% off any other sizes as well. Feel free to post any questions and I'll try to answer them or refer you to answers. If anyone is interested in another size I can inquire for you about the discount. As I described in my review, these things are under rated as my size small has been doing a good job on my 270g system. I just think another one will help get that last little bit of po4 down on my tank.
