Group Buy On ORA Clownfish

I just found this thread, I haven't searched yet but I wondered if others had received sick clowns from ORA :(

its not eatting yet, swimming at the surface and then laying on the substrate, and his color fades from black to a grey pale when he gets scared. He seems to get spooked randomly and jets from one side of the tank to the other, back and forth until he calms down, this is definatly ICH tho, i had a few fishes with ich before with the same symptoms. The other fishs seem fine tho so we'll see.

Sorry I haven't had time to update. 2 of my black clowns are doing great, the third has spots and is still breathing really fast and hasn't slowed down. It kind of worries me he is still breathing so fast because that would mean the ick is probably in his gills. I am probably going to try a short freshwater dip and see what that does for him.

I didn't notice the spots till last night and tried the freshwater dip this morning. He has been breathing heavy since yesterday, but the other two are doing very well.

Mine definitely has ich. Lots of spots and labored breathing. He is slightly more responsive today than yesterday.

All params are good and I have put him into hypo salinity.

We'll see how he does, he is a cool fish and I like him very much.

I'll be contacting ORA, not to complain so much as just to let them know. They'll need to get this out of their systems or other customers could get it.

i also want to add that ron has been absolutly terrific with helping me thru this, hes has dropped them off to my door and also already offered to pick it up and refund my money. While i try to duke this out with my fish, i definatly want to thank Ron for going the extra mile!

well out of all the fishes, i think im the first to lose the first fish:-( i woke up this morning with my cleaning crew working on whats left of the head of my black clown fish. The worst part is ich has spreaded to my other tanks inhabitants. Hope everyone else's fish is fairing well.

Mine looked worse this morning. He is thinning out and at this rate won't have a belly by tomorrow.

I've never received a fish is such sick health before.

Josh

Jon, sorry for your lose. I will try to resolve the problem tomorrow morning.

Josh how far have you lowered the salinity? Both of mine were looking bad last night, I confirmed it was ich. Over several hours I dripped RO water and dropped the gravity from 1.025 to 1.020. The spots have gone away, I can still see two or three, but they are eating. I have my temperature set to 80 degrees, I dosed my water with 2 drops of garlic extreme and added melafix to the QT tank. They seem to like Ocean Nutrition's formula one and two. Only thing is I crumble it up as much as I can, and they are eating it. I'm waiting for my RO unit to make more water so I can drop the gravity even more, to ease their breathing.

Upate on my fish:

The two are still doing great, the other one wasn't very responsive to the freshwater dip so last night I put in a tank with some clout and lowered the salinity a little. Also, I added a lot of air to the tank to help with his breathing, but it is still pretty labored. He swims around ok, but is breathing really fast still and has a sunken belly. If it continues another day or two he probably won't make it.

Ron- Thank you for all that you are doing, it is really appreciated. This is in no way your fault at all. When you deal with live animals things like this happen...the worst was about a year and a half ago when some locals did a group order of freshwater fish and shrimp from Arizona Aquatic Gardens...mamameya. 1/2 of the animals were dead on arrival or within that day and that was only shipping from Arizona to California OVERNIGHT!!

Could get or have it already?;)

Pull those guys out of your reefs and give them a couple copper baths. Isolate them in a quarantine tank. You can keep them in a constant copper tank too. Change the water every day and you will get them to come around. Copper is the best med for this issue. If you can find Organic Cure from Aquarium Products try that. Of course, they could be already gone, but you may be surprised with this medication.

Dont get this copper in your reef!!!!

sg is at 1.009. He is in hypo for 4 weeks.

He won't eat anything, even when soaked in garlic or vitamins. He is pretty darn skinny now. I don't know how much longer he'll be with us.

Josh

in my experience, since the fish is already in the reef tank, catching the fish would cause more harm than good, because of the stress involved, i have done the copper method and had mix luck, i just want to minimalize the stress factor and ride this out. Idealy i should have QT them and maybe then introduce copper slowly, but i didnt have time or a tank to qt and they were already in the bag long enough.

Im currently trying kick ich right now, yes i know it has mix luck with people but this is my first experience with the product, and im just giving it a test run.

The spots on mine are not as bad as they were. The hypo salinity seems to be working. This morning he ate his first food.I hope this means he will also eat the next time I feed him.

I'll take him out of hypo in 6 weeks and introduce him to the main tank if he makes it.

Josh

Hey all,

Mine looked ok to begin with but he wasnt eating. He's now just hanging out at the top of the water line. IME this is a bad sign. I'm hoping for the best. We'll see how he does.

To eccho what Jon said...Ron has been amazing during this transacation. Delivering all of these to everyone was insane enough but his follow up has been just as amazing. No matter what happens thanks a lot Ron!
