I saw this post in the sticky

"So, let's be clear: Local Club sanctioned Group Buys are okay. The organizer cannot be affiliated with the vendor or product(s), nor have a greater monetary or other benefit than other participants. If the group buy involves shipping to multiple addresses and/or involves non-local participation the sale will be removed and the organizer will receive an infraction (which can lead to Probationary status and loss of sales and PM privileges, so don't go there)."

Does this mean BRS group buys are NOT ok? Just curious.

question: BRS is a sponsor so their group buys shouldnt be affected right?

response: I PM'ed a moderator and was told that it has never been okay to do this, and they just had the matter brought to their attention...

I can see the point, but then I cant. I mean it had to have been abused (so we will say) for them to do something about it.

Good news is there are a few of us that stock BRS locally. Otherwise you just do a normal group buy

I'm confused- so if some of us decide to go in on a group buy from Live Aquaria or some other retailer- and they (the retailer) decide to do us a favor and split it up and ship to each individual - then we can get banned from R/C?? What is the problem??

someone mod's panties are in a bunch? I really don't know why they are complaining about it now.

I think the biggest difference would be taking advantage of the community forums (and some for personal gain) to get a better price. I have seen global group BRS orders from the main RC forums, so Im sure there were others. So I can see soo many factors coming into play that would ruin the fun since its not as intended to mainly help out local clubs for a purchase. You get one guy that gets upset in a totally different state and you can get a war started.

OK - I actually read the whole sticky - and I think our local area here would not be a problem- I think they are worried about the Pittsburgh people getting together with the Cleveland Ohio people and undercutting Salty Critter or something like that. SO, I guess there is potential for problems when you think about it that way.

Speaking of group buys, anyone interested in getting some of the par38 led bulbs? They are $120 a piece and $100 if you get five or more.

What is the Kelvin rating on those bulbs Ray? You can get them at Lowes but the Kelvin rating is on the lower side.

It might be worth the trip to Lowes to see if they can/would do a special order on them for ya. I know they sell the lower K rated ones for around $60, if you guys wanted to order a bunch of them they might do it for you at the same or at least a lower price.

I think the ones in that thread I linked are custom made with high power Cree led bulbs.

I don't think they are made in higher temp ratings.
