group order on TDS meters

I found an auction on eBay with 10 TDS meters for just under $100 shipped. These are the same brand that the top ro/di makers recommend. That means we can get the same meters that everyone else is paying ~$30 for here on RC, for only $10 each.

I didn't know if there would be enough interest amongst the club to get them or not. I am in for one. If I can get 7 people to commit before 4:00PM tomorrow, I'll go ahead and place the order. That way we should likely have them in time for the meeting.

It's only $10 for something that we should probably all have, especially if you have your own ro/di unit. Unless you really want a massive algae bloom to be the way you find out your membranes & resin need changed.

Well, there doesn't seem to be enough interest for me to go ahead and get them. It seems to be a perpetual auction that he restarts every time he sells a set, so they should be available in the future. I had simply hoped to get them in time for the meeting because that is an easy time to pass them out.

I cannot afford to buy them and sit on 6 or 7 until people need them or I would. If we can get enough interest in this we could always pass them around at a future meeting. I am in need of one really soon though, so I may have to buy mine separately.

I have to say I'm surprised there hasn't been more interest in these. Maybe everyone else in the club already has one? Maybe fewer people have ro/di units than I thought?

Runner & nwolfe, I don't suppose you are each willing to take 3 for future sale or use? If you are, that woul be great! But, I really don't expect it. I'm willing to do this at any time in the next week, so I'll keep checking this thread. It seems like a really good deal to me, but if I miss out it won't be the first good deal I've missed and probably not the last.

The TDS meters are here! My tap water measured in at 163. Better than many I've heard, but not great. I need to replumb my ro/di so I can get it tested. The last time I ran it I had a small flood.

My tap water tested at ~160 ppm. Not too bad. Coming out of our simple carbon filter on our fridge, it is ~120 ppm. The water I had sitting in plastic containers (with solids leaching into the water) for almost a week was up to 15 ppm.

Mine, sitting overnight in my top off tub with my new RO/DI was 38! Yes, I trashed the first 5g. guess it's time to clean the top off tub. But these readings arent adding any nasties right? Just bacteria and stuff that naturally occur in a container?

My tap water measured 140. The RO unit under the kitchen sink measured 2 which was better than the RO/DI in the basement, it measured 6. I think itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s time to change the DI filter and clean out the Rubbermaid trash can.

I love having one of these things. I just got my water filter installed and running (imsqueak's old one with a new RO membrane). My house water has ~160 TDS. I decided to check this filter about 15 minutes after I installed it and it was ~110 TDS. Yeah, I know I am supposed to run it 2 hours before using it. I checked it an hour into running and it is already down to ~23 TDS. Getting better. I'll start collecting it in an hour if the total is less than 10.
