Groupbuy Carbon like Cora?

Hey I was checking their site and they had a group buy going on down there from Salty critters of all places. Not sure if it is from the salty's up here or not, but was wondering if any up here wanted to do something like that? I would definitely be interested in getting some. Might be cheaper for us too since we would not have to pay for shipping I think, could just pick up at the store and split it up at the meeting or something.

He's probably doing a group buy with them to get columbus people into his shop to buy other things as well....good marketing
C-sea goes there all the time because were close plus he gives us great deals on the raffle items every month. Sometimes saving a buck or 2 just is not worth it to keep asking for more and more from a store that gives so much to the club. I'd rather pay full price, He's got a family to support and does enough for us IMO.

Group buys have been a topic of debate for the last few years. C-sea usually gets burned on them. Plus look at it for the stores that support us every month. If I was the store why would I want to support a club that does group buys with the cheapest price around. I wouldn't support them. He does nice things for us every month and big time at events and parties.

Maybe group buys need to come to a vote?

In case you weren't aware of it, Salty Critter will sell you bulk carbon for $4.50/lb. I know Jim (our raffle chairman) has picked up orders and brought them to the meetings before if you could call them to have it ready for pick up I don't think he would mind bringing it with him.

If you are planning on visiting the store just ask for the bulk carbon and they will bag it up for you. I usually get 5 lbs at a time and it lasts about 6 months. It just doesn't seem worth it to do all the work and beat Dan up about pricing to save $2.50 on 5 lbs in my opinion. I can understand the guys in CORA doing it since they were shopping all around the country and it just happens to be the semi-local store that came out cheapest for them.

Just my 2 cents.

It's a standing offer for me to pick up phoned in orders to the Critter and have them brought with me to the zoo on meeting days. This goes for carbon, or anything else as far as that goes. It doesn't matter.

Just don't ask me to bring in that 300 gallon display tank you've had your eye on.:D
