Who has them? How many do you have? Currently I have 2 but am looking at adding 5-7 more. Anyone have a mix of pyramids and zosters? Any and all experiences welcome

Well, as you know, I have four in my 265. They grow pretty fast. Not sure I could manage many more. Would like to add a couple of Zosters, just haven't found any in a while.

Do you think a odd number is best just like with all groupings of fish? I haven't seen Zosters anywhere but on LA under the collectors corner. The two I currently have I would consider large. I would like to add small pyramids and Zosters only but they seem to be the hardest to find.

Nothing magical about odd numbers. Pyramids and Zosters get along fine given social acclimation (and initial quarantine, of course) in long tanks.

I have 3 in my 300g set-up. I originally had 4 but one died for no apparent reason. They are awesome fish.

I had 3 in a 420 years back. Great fish. I'd say as long as you have a large enough display you would be ok.

The tank they will be going in is the 7ftx6ftx2ft 625g

Good to know that odd numbers aren't a necessity, and not QTing Isn't is never a option in my mind

No problem in a display that large! Will be awesome additions! Would love to see a group in a tank that large! Will need pics in the future!

No too worry there will be plenty of pics... And angels in the tank. I will nab one of the bluelined before it's over

Yes agree. My four have been model citizens (other than eating all my Xenia and blue clove polyps) and get along fine, very little aggression within the quartet although my Sailfin goes after the biggest of the four occasionally.

Pictures!!! Where are everybody's pictures??

Ask .... and you shall receive .....

Really would like to add a pair of Zosters. LA has 'large' ones at the moment, but given how fast my pyramids have grown, I think I'll wait on a few smaller ones.

I would really enjoy a pair of yellow pyramid butterfly fish for my 90, but I worry that they might outgrow my tank, opinions?

They will out grow the 90g even if they were the only two fish in it. My two are the size of large grapefruits/small cantaloupes. Plus they are very active swimmers. 6ft tank is a must at bare minimum

For those of you that love rare fish and angels Michael at NYAquatics has quite the selection at the moment. Wrought iron butterfly, maze angels, interruptus, cocos joculator, and 4 different sizes of blue lines

Are their any reef safe butterflyfish that would be compatible with my tank?

(sorry for hijacking your thread)

I welcome hijacking! All butterflies are with caution as far as reef safe goes... A copper banded is a option but they are often very difficult to get eating. Long nose butterfly may work, good news is their mouths are so small it's hard for them to do damage to larger corals

I received 3 pyramids today from of all places Petco.com. Communication wasn't great, packaging was only fair but they arrived before 9AM and dang, they look healthy. All 3 have already eaten mysis with vigor. Long way to go but my previous pyramids never looked this good at this point.

My only beef was they were supposed to be "small" 2 to 2.5 inches and they are a little over 3". My desire for smaller specimens was my only reason for taking a chance on this place. Still not sorry I did though, no matter what happens from here.

Congrats. 3" is the smallest I have ever seen pyramids. The last group I saw was suppose to be medium sized ones from QM but they were all 3-4" they had smalls on the list too which I would of loved to of seen. Petco.com or tropical fish international or CIS Holdings... Whichever you would like to call them usually has healthy livestock, the trick is getting someone to pack the fish that has a clue what they are doing.
