I bought this clam (pretty sure its a squamosa) 2 months and two weeks ago it is in my sumpless 29 gallon tank with two percs a scarlet hak some sps live rock etc.
it was 6 inches when I bought it it is 6 inches under a 55 watt 10 k pc bulb and a 55 watt actinic bulb the tank temp is between 82 and 84 (no chiller for this tank, just a fan and i live in bangkok) and as you can see it is costing me a fortune in calcium and alkalinity supplements.
along with the coralline i add about 5-10 ml of kent a and b plus kalkwasser as top off.

It seems to like the conditions!
I plan on releaseing it in a marine park (gulf of thailand) here when it gets too big

Man nice squam!

Thats a cool plan too! Just make sure you do a lot of research when you release it into the wild of what depth you should put it at. Maybe talk to the parks fish and game if you have one.

There is a marine park near to where I live near the island of ko samet some very secluded beaches with fringing reef there and many clams of most varieties crocea squamosa etc.
They are protected and it is a beautiful place, I plan to take it in a styrene coolerbox with a portable airstone (2 hour journey).

I will keep it for a while though looks cool in my tank and is thriving!

funny thing visibility is often 0.5 to 4 metres max so they are not recieving full sunlight most of the time, but they are thriving there now since it was declared a marine park.
