growth series

Toms purple cap at CF is HUGE. It got so big it was breaking itself against the glass until he pruned it. Yours looks like it's on it's way.

I was looking at Tom's cap today. It has a different growth pattern and different coloration. If you look down the length of Tom's 180 you can see where the cleaning magnet keeps the corals away from the glass an inch or so.

Hopefully someday my orange and purple Cap will get to that level, They were allittle roughed up during my move in October.

Just wait until the next pic!
Randy- this was originally Sanjay's coral, right?

Hey Gary,
Sorry, I must have missed this post.

Yes, it's the one from Sanjay. I've got so much of it, I've been practically giving it away. ;) Fastest growing Montipora I've ever had.

Kewl. I like fast growers. :)
The same coral can be seen at the top of this picture. (Actually it's located at the bottom of my aquarium.)

Gary, what is the green acro in the pic at the bottom??

My nice and hairy green Acro. :D

It's usually called a "hairy green millepora".
Time for the monthly growth update.

You can clearly see the damage caused by the blue Echinopora sweepers on the top back left side of the Montipora.
Shading caused from the growth of other corals located above this one is also evident.

for comparison, this is what the coral looked like in Sept. 2006

Here is a orange cap that I fragged the snot out of in June of '06

Here it is today 6 months later

I think the Orange Cap is one of the fastest growers...

Orange cap is a fast grower but this purple monti would have grown right over my orange if I hadn't moved it.
Here's another example of the same purple montis growth. Not only does it grow laterally, but it grows horizontally and thicker.

Didn't I give you a piece of your table Acro back? If so, how is that doing?
It's growing horizontally and doing fine, Mark.

this months growth shot will show how I fragged this coral for the URS meet in Van Etten. I'm growing another colony now. I also randomly sprinkled some of those small coral frags into my rockwork and they've started several more new colonies.

three years later

and who (besides Randy and Sanjay) would have guessed where this would have gone? Thanks for the original "frags", Randy!
