So I recently traded with someone x-country. My MP10w ES for his 24" 2x24w T5/150MH fixture. Just came in and it's cracked at both ends.

I'm wondering if it's safe to even try to turn on. I have no exp. with mh's so I don't even know what proper start-up procedure is.

i had a cracked sunpod before. just someone being very careless. Are you suspending it from the ceiling? if it is strong enough just silicone the cracks to avoid any salt creep and hang her up, thats what I did. just got rid of it last year and bought a 48inch fixture.

wow that sucks, what did that guy do,try to punch a couple holes in to help cooling?? That don't really look like shipping damage..With being a trade do you even have any grounds to file a claim or anything??

looks like the power cord was pulled through..Before firing it up,I'd check the connections first..

I agree with Todd, that doesn't look like shipping damage. Was the box all messed up? If not and the damage wasn't disclosed prior to the agreed upon trade, I'd definitely complain.

not sure what the holes are for but it def looks like they were very careless and screwed the end plates back on too tightly and cracked them. As for starting it up I didnt notice at the bottom that you hadnt done that yet. So i agree with ben and todd. either check the connection and fire it up or try and get your mp10 back. Is this person on RC? you can complain in the trading selling feedback forum on the main forum page to discourage others from trading with this person in the future.

Not an RC transaction...I don't want this to turn nasty...yet. Lol...after further "investigation" I noticed after I slid the T5 lamp protective lens cover off I saw that there were 2 bulbs in the area, one in cardboard carton and 1 out. I don't understand why the reflector is loose and not attached since there are holes at either end for screws.

I got it running...needed to adjust the endcaps and found some screws and fastened the individual reflectors. I've never touched any mh fixture b4 so I fiddled with that and realized the lamp wasn't clipped in, (thx for the checking contacts advice). I will seal the cracks and hope for the best.

Seller has replied to my pm's...we'll work something out.

Thx for the help folks.
