I've been keeping an eye on my gsm the last couple of days. i have knowticed that the female has an abnormaly large bellly and a slight protrusion in front of the anal fin. I was wondering if she is about to lay eggs.

she seems to be having a bit of a problem swimming. she is struggeling to swim to the bottom of the tank. Can anyone tell me what this is?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Well I hope you have a pair of GSM's...otherwise, it wouldn't be possible.

I have asked the same question and the response I got was that pregnant clowns should not show any irregular type of activity. It could be some type of infection or parasite but without a clear picture, it would be really hard to say.

How long has the pair been together? If it has been a short while, then it is probably not eggs. We're talking under a year even though some people have had success with short time spawners.

I got them as a mated pair from a man who said they were regularly spawning in his tank. they were together in his tank for 3 years and they have been together in mine for about 7 months.

I've heard and seen a few fish that somehow injured their swim bladder and were unable to swim to the bottom of their tank.

Then it definitely could be a possibility that she is pregnant but the only thing not good is that she is swimming funny. Like I said, probably parasite or bladder infection...
