Guess my water volume (please)

Going to get into some specific dosing. 88 gallon display, stocked with a lot of rock. What's your guess for water volume?

For dosing purposes I would probably just peg it at 80 gallons & go from there.

See I wouldn't think of that- I mean if you really want to get technical about it.. you have to count what the sand displaces too. If I had an 88 gal tank I would dose based on 88 gal. +/- 10 or 12 gallons isn't really going to matter right?

I'm starting the full Red Sea color program. Going to get the pro test kit and whatnot, but I've always been curious what my system volume is for some other stuff too. No idea if I have 5 or 50 "gallons" of rock.

..... and the fish. My college roommate kept Oscars and we would always joke that his tank was 25 gallons of fish and just 5 gallons of water. The answer to the OP is that the last couple of decimal places of accuracy is largely irrelevant. BTW, most tanks peg size based in external dimensions. Doing the math on ID makes a sizable difference (50 gallons on my impending build).

FWIW, I have a 90 DT, a 25"x14" sump, and a 12"X14"X18" fuge. Total of 110 lbs rock and 80 lbs sand. The whole system when full to the high water line in the sump is holding 86 gallons. HTH.
