I may have missed it after going through this monster thread, but would SeaChem Matrix biomedia be an acceptable substitute for ceramic media? Not sure if it is considered porous or not.
That is what I am using in the back of my AIO, so if it wont be affected by copper or meds, I will add a bag to my QT as well. Thanks!
I emailed Seachem, and they responded by saying:
"when using cupramine, your biological filtration will have little to no effect. The Matrix will no absorb the copper like live rock."
I guess this is another great alternative!
I will throw a bag in the qt since Im using a small hob with floss and carbon (that I would pull when dosing).
and just to be clear, stability wont react with cup or prazi to cause toxicity issues?
have you noticed any aggression? fights chasing around?
i think that is the problem as i see the white marks and also see the top fin (middle of the body on top with black line) has a bite mark on it.
That filter is a bit small, if you're just using that filter I would recommend using a powerhead also for water movement in the 40g.
To avoid aggression provide plenty of pvc pipes so they may hide.
Once per day as you adjust the salinity would be fine as long as you are using a refractometer.
It would be a good idea to use the sponge in the QT.
I could get the 60 gallon version instead or this one:

I was planning on either getting a small power head or air-stone regardless btw.
Actually no... even though I am not home all the time, but they seem to get along great. Once in a while I would see one make a little charge at the other, but more of a chase than anything.
This aquaclear is also an option: http://www.amazon.com/AquaClear-50-...d=1396485127&sr=8-1&keywords=aquaclear+filter
If I go with the aquaclear, would I be able to just use the aquaclear foam inserts as opposed to poly-filter/floss?
