gws76's- 150 gal. Build

Nice! glad to see some doors. and I had to be the 100th reply Looking good can't wait to get out there and see it in person again. I'm sure it has grown a ton.

I'm sure it has grown a ton.

Most of it has. Except the Green Slimer and Nepthea. The slimer started to STN and had to frag it. Not sure what caused it, no pests, the only thing I did was change the flow a little. Also had to chop the big Nepthea, it was becoming a 1 ft. tall monster and started fighting with a monti. So now we have a few frags of the both.

I really wanted to go with blue and white semi transparent glass (some kind of stained glass) rather than the wood panels in the centers. Then back light them. Maybe next time.

We could do that....

I have a LOT to build this coming spring, so if you want to experiment...?

What would be really nice would be stained glass panels.
Now that would be a fun project.

Not sure the doors would have been possible without Pauls help, I really like them. thanks again Paul.

If I get around to redoing them, I'm thinking either this for the centers

or a red, orange, and white panel (would look like fire when backlit) or if I was truly talented some kind of Marine themed or keltic mosaic stained glass panel.

Micheals has stained glass kits might be worth picking up one and giving it a try. It be cool if you could talk kaitlin into drawing you a stencil! Cool Idea.

something else that might look cool is make a vinyl stencil of whatever design, covering the glass you don't want any design on at all, and doing some very mild sandblasting to the glass. I had a class available back in HS that did this as a project, most of the ones I saw turned out really nice.

Awesome looking tank, you guys are inspiring me to try something with my new tank, instead of just going with a standard stand.

we could take the doors you have and rout the back out if you want, then inlay any panel you want.

When we get a chance I may take you up on that. The key is getting a chance.:lolspin:

I'm thinking the stained glass would be nice. I'll have to figure out what I'm wanting it to look like. I don't want anything that will take attention away from the tank, just something subtle. But that's a project I'll have to tackle on the glass.

Thanks Brad. I moved a few corals around and had a little growth since that last pic back in January. Some have grown more than I thought.
